      Tooth Extractions

It is a sad day when we have to remove a tooth, but for certain reasons this is necessary. Whether it be due to infection, spacing problems, periodontal disease, we have the knowledge to inform our clients to their options.

      Tooth Extractions

      Dentures

If you have lost all or some of your natural teeth, whether because of accidental or periodontal disease or tooth decay, partial dentures or full upper and lower dentures can replace the missing teeth. This will help in appearance as well as your ability to eat, and speak and support facial muscles.

There are different methods to creating denture,a conventional full denture is made and placed in the patients mouth after the tissues have healed which takes several months. An immediate complete denture is inserted after the extractions are done same day. Removable partial dentures usually consists of replacement teeth attached to gum color plastic base which is attached to metal framework. With all dentures the dentist will need to take impressions and measurements in order to fabricate the denture to your custom fitting. With all dentures clients need to keep in mind that oral hygiene is still needed, brushing of the gums, tongue, and palate every morning with a soft bristle tooth brush before inserting denture. Also remove denture during sleep to allow the tissue underneath to breath.

      Crowns

Crowns are designed to one restore the tooth to its normal shape and size and to create more strength. It can support a tooth with a large filling, where there is no tooth enamel left. It is also used for reinforcement on root canal teeth as the tooth becomes non vital and fragile. A crown is a good way to enhance a tooth if there is discoloration, and or badly shaped. And is also used for implant cases. It is done by removing some of the enamel or filling material, so that there is a post like core remaining, at this time the Dentist takes an impression of this tooth and neighboring teeth and a shade of your teeth. This is sent to a lab and a crown if created. It usually takes two weeks to be created and a temporary crown is place during this time. For more information please call Dentistry@Cedarview2.

      Bridges

Veneers are thin custom-shaped shells designed to cover the front side of the teeth. They are made of tooth color material, and used to treat spaces between teeth, chipped teeth, or worn, stained, poorly shaped or slightly crooked teeth.

      Implants

They are an alternative to bridges or dentures, Implants can look like natural teeth. It is simply a metallic titanium post that is inserted into the jaw bone to act like the natural tooth root. Titanium is not recognized by the body's immune system, so it is not rejected as an implant. It integrates with the jaw bone to give a firm support to the artificial replacement that it will support.

      Reasons for an implant:

      • No worrying about dentures falling out of a stable foundation.
      • Improves biting pressure
      • Insufficient teeth amount or jaw structure for other types of replacements
      • Restores proper chewing ability which leads to a better diet and improves overall health
      • Eliminates tooth shifting
      • Comfort and fit
      • Helps preserves healthy vital teeth structure ( unlike a bridge)

      Root canal Therapy

Most of the time a root canal is a relatively simple procedure with little or no discomfort. It involves two appointments, best of all it saves the tooth and your smile!. Inside each tooth is the blood supply or pulp which provides nutrients and nerves, these thread like stands run down the roots of the tooth.

When the tooth becomes injured, diseased the pulp begins to die. If this pulp is not removed the tooth becomes infected and there may be pain and swelling involved. A dentist will remove this pulp from the tooth and leave the outer shell of the tooth, and fill the inside with a dental material to seal the canals.

Shortly afterwards a Crown is placed on this tooth to help keep the tooths strength. If you have any concerns regarding this procedure please call Dentistry@Cedarview2.
